Types of Wheelchair Ramps We Install
Modular Aluminum Ramps
Modular aluminum ramps are the most popular choice for Florida homes. They are built from pre-engineered sections, platforms and handrails that bolt together on site, so we can fit them to almost any entrance, including long runs with switchbacks and landings. Aluminum does not rot, rust or need painting, which makes it ideal for Florida’s heat, humidity, salt air and summer storms. Because the ramp is modular, it can be extended, reconfigured or removed later without damaging your home. We install modular systems such as Redispan, built for both residential and commercial use.
Threshold Ramps
Threshold ramps are small, low-profile ramps that remove the bump at a doorway, sliding glass door or raised entry. They make it easier to roll a wheelchair, scooter or walker in and out of the home and reduce tripping hazards for everyone.
Portable Ramps
Portable and folding ramps are a good fit for one or two steps, for visiting family members, or for getting a scooter in and out of a vehicle. We help you choose the right length and weight capacity so the ramp is safe to use every time.
Built to ADA Guidelines
A safe ramp is about more than getting from the driveway to the door. We design every ramp around the slope, width, landings and handrails recommended in the ADA guidelines. As a general rule, ADA guidance calls for at least one foot of ramp length for every inch of rise, a level landing at the top and bottom, and landings where the ramp changes direction. For commercial properties, we help you meet accessibility requirements so customers and employees can enter safely.
- Slip-resistant walking surfaces for wet Florida weather
- Continuous handrails on both sides where needed
- Edge protection to keep wheels on the ramp
- Level landings for resting, turning and opening doors
How Long Will My Ramp Need to Be?
Ramp length depends on how high your entrance is. Using the one-to-twelve slope guideline, a doorway 12 inches above the ground needs about 12 feet of ramp, and a 24-inch porch needs about 24 feet plus landings. Long ramps can wrap around in an L or U shape to fit smaller yards. During your evaluation we measure the exact rise and show you the layout before anything is installed. When an entrance is too high for a practical ramp, we will tell you, and we can recommend a vertical platform lift instead.
What to Expect
- Free on-site evaluation. We measure the rise at your entrance, look at the space available, and talk through who will be using the ramp.
- Ramp design and quote. We lay out a ramp that meets the right slope and fits your property, with a clear written quote.
- Installation. Most residential ramps are installed in a single day, with little or no impact on your landscaping.
- Warranty and service. Every ramp comes with a one-year parts and labor warranty, and we are here if you need changes later.
Wheelchair Ramps for Veterans
Reigning Mobility is a VA-approved provider and a women-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned small business. We install many ramps for veterans through VA medical centers across Florida. Veterans may qualify for help with the cost of a ramp through VA home modification programs. Visit our Veterans & VA Benefits page to learn how it works.
